US gets its first-ever wine vending machine

The state of Pennsylvania has introduced America’s first-ever wine vending machine as part of a supermarket trial.

Customers just have to swipe their driver’s licence, look into the camera and blow into a breathalyser attached to the machine to purchase bottles of wine.

If the machines prove successful inside two supermarkets, the state Liquor Control Board says it could place the high-tech gadgets in up to 100 more.

Strict licensing laws in Pennsylvania mean individuals can only buy wine and liquor for home consumption at state-owned stores staffed by public employees.

Several attempts to reform the laws have been blocked by special interest groups intent on maintaining profits from the alcohol trade.

The vending machines are being provided by Simple Brands, based in Pennsylvania, for free in exchange for being able to sell advertising on attached flat-screen monitors.

Customers choose their bottle of wine on a touch-screen display, swipe their ID, blow into an alcohol sensor and look into a surveillance camera.

The whole process takes around 20 seconds and a fee of $1 could be added after the trial period.

A state employee in Harrisburg remotely approves the sale after verifying the buyer matches the photo ID.

Pennsylvania liquor board chairman Patrick Stapleton said the kiosks gave ‘an added level of convenience in today’s busy society’.

Simple Brands president Jim Lesser said the vending machine was not aimed at wine connoisseurs.

“They were developed for the average consumer who wants a nice bottle of wine with their steak and seafood,” he added.

Modern Italian furniture is the embodiment of the perfect marriage between craftsmanship and innovation. Now, discerning home decorators and furniture buyers like you can take advantage of the premium quality and up-to-date design that this type of furniture can provide. These are the times where space is a very vital factor when it comes to homes, and what serves more better than modern bedroom, it is space saving, unique, decorating and if used wisely can be multifunctional.

The number one rule of happiness in decorating is: Listen to your soul. You want your room to satisfy your living style and win compliments from your friends. Remember the wisdom of the old saying, “Beauty is in the
eye of the beholder.” Rarely is that truer than in decorating a room. You are not in competition with a “big name” decorator who designs for the lens of a camera. You are decorating for you, and no one knows you
better than you. Knowing what pleases you is a better start than a year of design school. Don’t be intimidated, you probably know more about decorating than you realize.

So if you are choosing a modern furniture, apart from being a decorative delight, it not only gives you numerous benefits it also shows how smart you are in deciding the contemporary space for a contemporary living.

Singapore Rocks!

Life Style, world No Comments

I had a very recent visit to Singapore and I was entertained to the max while I was there. We all know that it is a tourist attraction, but not just that its an awesome city with amazing activity going around 24 x 7.

If I’m supposed to blog on about all the places I visited during my stay at S’pore it will be long, rather I would just ask anyone who is interested to just go on and visit this amazing city.

In short the city is charming, beautiful, well planned, clean, entertaining, friendly and exciting. Although I gotta warn you, it might get a bit expensive there; But every buck spent is worth its while.

I might actually write a detailed post on all the attractions and must visit places, but for now I would just recommend 3 places which impressed me a lot.
1. The reverse bungee at Clarke Quay
2. The Flow Rider at the Wave House, Sentosa.
3. Luge Ride at Sentosa.

Apart from these most of the attractions are just as awesome as these are, but these were my favorites.
More on Singapore later.

Get your own Greek island!

Troubled nation has taken to selling islands as a means of repaying debts

There’s little that shouts ‘seriously rich’ as loudly as owning a little island in the sun.

For Sir Richard Branson it is Neckar in the Caribbean, the billionaire Barclay brothers prefer Brecqhou in the Channel Islands, while Aristotle Onassis married Jackie Kennedy on Skorpios, his Greek hideway.

Now, Greece is making it easier for the rich and famous to fulfill their dreams by preparing to sell, or offering long-term leases on, some of its 6,000 sun-kissed islands in a desperate attempt to repay its mountainous debts.

Injecting capital

An area in Mykonos, one of Greece’s top tourist destinations, is one of the sites for sale.

The area is one-third owned by the government, which is looking for a buyer willing to inject capital and develop a luxury tourism complex, according to a source close to the negotiations.

Potential investors also looking at property on the island of Rhodes, are mostly Russian and Chinese. Investors in both countries are looking for a little bit of the Mediterranean as holiday destinations for their increasingly affluent populations.

Roman Abramovich, the billionaire owner of Chelsea football club, is among those understood to be interested, although a spokesman denied he was about to invest.

Desperate measures

Greece has embarked on the desperate measures after being pushed into a £ 90 billion bailout by the EU and the IMF last month, following a decade of overspending and after jittery investors raised borrowing costs to unbearable levels.

The sale of an island or convincing a member of the international jet-set to take on a long-term lease would help to boost its coffers.

The Private Islands website lists 1,235-acre Nafsika, in the Ionian sea, on sale for 15 million Euro.

But others are on for less than 2 million. Some of the country’s numerous islands are tiny and could barely fit a single sunbed.
