New Guitar Game Features Real Guitar

A new twist to the popular music game genre will bring players one step closer to the rock icons they seek to emulate — Power Gig: Rise of the Sixstring features a guitar controller with real strings (instead of buttons).

The game, developed by Seven45 Studios, was announced on Tuesday at the beginning of the Game Developers Conference. Power Gig is similar to other music games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and features “beat-match” style play in which players must match the onscreen beats with their instruments.

There will also be a new mode of play that requires players to depress certain strings in order to play actual chords — the same chords that players will then be able to play outside of the game.

Power Gig: Rise of the Sixstring will be a great option for people who enjoy Guitar Hero-type games, but who don’t want to spend a lot of extra money on an otherwise useless game controller. The guitars in Power Gig will come in a variety of sizes and will feature standard quarter-inch instrument jacks — which means you’ll be able to plug these babies into a regular amp and play real music. The guitars have a dampener near the pickup that will raise up during video game play (so the strings don’t make sounds) and lower for actual guitar playing.

If learning to play guitar isn’t your thing — and playing Rock Band is — the game will also be playable with Rock Band and Guitar Hero guitar-controllers. Likewise, Rock Band and Guitar Hero will also be compatible with the Power Gig controller.

Power Gig: Rise of the Sixstring is scheduled to be released this fall for PS3 and Xbox 360, and will also come as a “band bundle” with a set of drums and a microphone (still in production). Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but it will be priced similar to other games of its type — which is anywhere from $70 to $200. There’s no word on what the official licensed tunes will be like, either.

Game Zone: Mass Effect 2, ready for release

Fun, Technology No Comments

When Mass Effect came out, initially it could only be enjoyed by players on the Xbox 360. It took over 6 months for it to then appear on the PC and this is something that is looking to be corrected when Mass Effect 2 is released.

Speaking at GamesCom 2009, Jesse Houston, the Associate Producer of Mass Effect 2, outlined what they learnt the first time around and what they’re aiming to achieve when the game ships,

We learned a lot from building the PC version before, and having built it six months later there was a big difference. So we actually took what we learned from PC and put it back into 360. This time round, doing it at the same time for a sim-ship, we can control the differences much more smoothly because it’s the same team building it now.

Definitely good news for PC gamers, as they’ll be able to enjoy Mass Effect 2 at the same time as those on the Xbox 360 when the game is shipped in Q1 2010.

Wars on WebPage

Information No Comments

So I’ve not been posting frequently for a while, the reason : I was busy with my mafia clan racketing property, trafficking guns, mugging people, now before I trigger your imagination, let me tell you I was just on FaceBook, obsessed by this addictive web-page game mafia wars.

Well most of my friends started playing this game, and eventually the competition grew more and now the only thing they do is play this simple browser game. well lets see some pro’s and con’s here for the very innovative product from ZYNGA( the game’s design company, it has lot more stuff with it)

Pro’s:

The game is too simple, and its fun to have your own mafia gang.

You don’t need a super computer with high end graffix to play this game.

A simple dial up connection would do, so you dont have to worry about your bandwidth being eaten up.

You network more people(beleive me, I have friends in my face book from every corner of the world).

Con’s:

This game, eats up your time like anything (cos its based on real TIME, so you wait for your points to grow as the time grows)

eventually you find out what you’re doing ( a very boring thing, but still you’re addicted)

The high levels are playing this for a real long time, say they are in 350’s and you’re just in 30’s so you end up wasting more time.

But anyway its worth a try, and I got bored of it, though am still alt-tabbing to increase my stats. Also since the wait time is more, I ended up trying other games in facebook, and now am addicted with one more game STREETRACING,

OMG, I think this will go on for a while…

Well let me tell you some start ups for if you’re willing to get addicted to the game:

1. create your character with energy based types ( well this is common to all games of zynga, they just have the names differnt, but the concept remains the same, click click click)

2. Then jus keep adding your energy stats all the way till you’re satisfied(say 250 energy should do I guess)

3. Dont worry about people killing you, or attacking you, jus keep going ( do buy some property if you like)

4. Also have a good gang, in number. They back you up at times.

5. Then once you’re high level, start distributing your stats to attack and defense.

6. Have fun! Oh and if you’re bored try other games in Facebook. finally when you feel you’ve done it all kick off the application from your profile, am sure something new would come to save you.

Cheers
