It’s official: Titan is titanic. Guinness World Records yesterday named the North Park Great Dane the world’s tallest dog. His official height, as measured by a veterinarian: 42.25 inches from floor to shoulder.

Titan’s owner, Diana Taylor, said her white, 4-year-old dog marked the news by slobbering over an official Guinness certificate.

“I saw it today, and I almost cried,” said Taylor, who had long sought the title for the animal she calls her “special needs” dog.

Titan is deaf, epileptic and partly blind, which makes the honour particularly sweet, Taylor said. “It’s not just wonderful for Titan,” she said.
